Hide and Squeak!

Sep 07, 2020

With park hopping suspended, a full day at EPCOT for parents with little ones can be a tough sell. With much of Future World under construction, the heavy burden of entertainment falls upon the World Showcase. At first blush, EPCOT's World Showcase is simply about food, drink, culture and shopping. BooooRING to most children.

I could spend the next 1000 words explaining that there are incredible attractions, outrageous desserts, plenty of character sightings and a whole lot of magic throughout all of EPCOT still, and that it is 100% worth a full day. But, I'm here to share details of one activity that could be a game-changer for your family's full day at EPCOT.

Remy's Ratatouille Hide and Squeak offered for $7.99 (AP/DVC discounts apply) is a scavenger hunt adventure throughout EPCOT's World Showcase. Guests are on the hunt for Remy (the tiny rat from the movie "Ratatouille") as he hides somewhere inside each of the eleven country pavilions. Once...

Why Would Anyone Still Go to Walt Disney World in 2020?

May 29, 2020

I have five reasons...

The recent news of the drastic operational changes made and measures the Walt Disney World Resort has taken to adhere to CDC guidelines in response to the Covid-19 global pandemic, dropped like a lead weight to the Disney travel community yesterday.

Earlier this week, we learned that when the Walt Disney World Resort reopens in mid July, it will be without fireworks, parades or character meet and greets. Many could forgive the loss of these experiences under the circumstances and still were willing to go forward with their vacations as planned. The collective sigh of relief from fans that they were reopening could almost be heard.

Then the bomb dropped. Disney announced they would be canceling all Disney Dining Plans, dining reservations and FastPass+ selections guests had previously booked, through the end of this year. Though not without feeling or regret, and the promise of priority re-booking opportunities or discounts, but the announcement came with...

BUSTED! 5 Animal Kingdom Myths Debunked

Bust These 5 Animal Kingdom Myths to Boost Your Disney Vacation Experience

Also, try these challenges to enhance your experience!

by Suzanne Burmeister

If you’re excited about—or trying to convince someone else to be excited about—Animal Kingdom, then you need to confront these five common Animal Kingdom myths. You’ll find all the reasons you need to visit this extraordinary park and have the best time while you’re there!

Myth #1: Animal Kingdom is the Largest Park, so Get Ready to Walk A LOT! Reality: Although Animal Kingdom is the largest park at Walt Disney World (and the whole world!) at 530 acres, that doesn’t mean you’ll need to wear your best walking shoes. The walking distance around the park for the visitor is only 2.27 miles.

If you’re interested: Check out the other walking distances at the following URL (spoiler: Epcot has the longest walking path at 2.78 miles): http://knowdw.com/theme-parks/walking-distance-disney-world/...

Why You Should Book a 2021 WDW BASIC Package NOW!

May 12, 2020

We're living in strange times, friends. Disney parks have been closed for nearly two months and we don't yet have an opening date for nearly all of them. So many of our trips have been canceled and we are incredibly anxious to get back "HOME".

For most, that means a trip next year. Either because we just can't fit a trip into our schedules this year or we want to wait until the effects of covid-19 disburse enough so that social distancing is a choice, not mandated. But what can we do now to plan for next year? BOOK A BASIC PACKAGE FOR 2021!

Historically, packages for the following year aren't available to be booked until sometime in June. THIS year, the Walt Disney Travel Company is mixing things up! Knowing that 2021 was already going to be a banner year for park visits with it being the 50th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort and now with leagues of people rescheduling their trips from this year to next, something had to be done.

Let me introduce you to the Basic Package....

Sir Mickey's: It's All in the Details!

May 04, 2020

The Walt Disney World Resort is phenomenal in so many ways. Maybe most of all for its attention to detail and how everything from attractions to resorts and even gift shops, have a back-story. Yes, even gift shops!

When you begin your planning, be sure to factor in time to smell the roses and explore the details. In the Magic Kingdom, as you walk through the awe inspiring Cinderella Castle and make your way toward the magic of Fantasyland, such a wondrous little shop lies. Before you reach any attraction or encounter any Princesses, just to the right, you will find Sir Mickey’s. You can’t miss it, look for the building with a beanstalk vine growing through it!

Sir Mickey’s theme, or back-story if you will, is a culmination of two Mickey Mouse tales of long ago, “The Brave Little Tailor” (1938) and “Mickey and the Beanstalk” (1947). Both tales feature Mickey Mouse and Willie the Giant in different roles.

Though there are nods to the other...

5 Ways to Live Disney Magic at Home

Apr 27, 2020

Chances are if you are reading a blog of mine, you flippin' love Disney and are down in the Disney dumps that the parks are closed. Even if you don't have a trip that was affected by the closure or even one planned in the future, just knowing that the Walt Disney World Resort isn't operating and making dreams come true for others just really gets you down, right? Me too.

Living and breathing all things Disney 24/7 is kind of my job. With the closure, even I have had to get creative in order to keep my Disney battery charged (as my friend Steph Shuster says) and stay positive. While many of my remedies have involved baking and subsequently eating, there are plenty of other ways that won't make getting back to the gym when social distancing rules relax tougher than it should be.

Here are my suggested five cures for the Disney blues:

1. WDW Magazine-I am a feature writer for this magazine, but I think it's important to know that I was a fan long before I began writing. It's been five...

To Go or Not to Go? That's the Question

Apr 20, 2020

It will come as no surprise that I receive a LOT of questions. From guests, from travel agents, students and from those who follow me on social media. Typically, those questions cover a wide variety of subjects, but lately they seem to be focused on one topic. No, not whether or not you should order ice cream from the take-out window at Beaches and Cream, but rather...should we plan to go to Walt Disney World as soon as they reopen?

Whether you have a previously scheduled trip for this Summer or had to re-book a canceled reservation due to closure, it's likely this question and concern has entered your mind. Of course, we don't yet have a reopening date, but what if we did? (This type of hypothetical is often the scenario I'm questioned about.)

What if the Walt Disney World Resort opened back up on June 1st, would I go? The answer to that questions is YES, without a doubt I would go. But would I advise YOU to go? That is not as easy an answer.

I'm going to give it to you straight,...

Why the Disney Closures Have Us Down...But Not OUT!

Apr 13, 2020

Like most of you, I too have been struggling a bit emotionally due to the abrupt and uncertain changes we're living through right now. Naturally, from a business point of view, it's troubling. Literally all of my eggs are in the Disney basket and the closures have been quite a hit financially. But loss of income isn't what has been bothering me the most.

For all of my life, Walt Disney World has been a constant. Ever operational, enchanting hundreds of thousands of people every single day. Even when not personally visiting, I've lived vicariously through my travel clients. Whether they are experiencing their Disney vacation dreams or pouring over the planning phase and getting over-the-top excited for what's to come, my Disney motor is always running.

The closure of the Walt Disney World Resort brought on by the global covid-19 pandemic has taught me a few things about myself. I've learned that the mere existence of a captivating destination in which the primary function is to...

FREE DOWNLOAD: Surviving and Thriving Through Covid-19 Closures

Apr 09, 2020

Who would have ever guessed that Disney destinations worldwide would have their doors closed for weeks and months on end? Not this girl, I'll tell you that. I'm devastated. My entire business surrounds and was built on my love for Disney. But just because I'm down, I am most definitely not out.

If you aren't familiar with me, the largest focus of my business centers on agent education. From mentoring those who wish to enter the field of professional Disney travel planning inside the Agent Prep Program to teaching business development and marketing techniques while providing done-for-you social content monthly inside the Plussing It Membership site, coaching is my passion.

While this covid-19 pandemic is a really hard pill to swallow for travel agents, it does not have to mean the end of our small businesses. Now is NOT the time to throw in the towel. In fact, now, more than ever before is when agents need to show up for their social audience and guests to keep the excitement and...
